While visiting Washington DC, you don't want to miss this perfect escape from the busy city!
The Theodore Roosevelt statue is about a quarter of a mile from the bridge but there’s a trail that loops around the island. Most of the trail has a boardwalk and I have seen a few strollers along the trail. It is a super easy trail! The full trail is 1.8 miles.
Directions to the statue: After crossing the bridge there is a trail on your left and right. Go right, then it splits again and go left. You will walk straight to the statue from there.
📍Location: We just typed Theodore Roosevelt Island in the GPS and it pops right up.
📌This island is accessed from the Mount Vernon Trail along George Washington Memorial Parkway.
🥾 To get to the Theodore Roosevelt statue it is about a 5-10 walk from the bridge.
🟢Difficulty: Easy
🦽 I saw several strollers on the trail. I believe you can make it to the statue with a stroller or wheelchair.
🦮 Dogs are allowed on a leash.
🅿️ The parking is small and fills up pretty quick. We were able to find parking without a problem and we arrived around 9:30am when we were leaving around 11:00am there was a line of cars waiting for a parking space.
🚻 Bathrooms: There are porta potties at the end of the parking lot right before you go on the bridge to the island. There is also a bathroom in the middle of the island but it’s been locked every time we have visited.
💰Admission: Visiting is Free
